Heartland Neurological Therapy and Wellness Center will provide PD-specific therapy (PT, OT, SLP) and group exercise classes with staff that are specially trained and invested in the Parkinson’s community. We will also provide space and resources for quality PD education for persons with Parkinson’s Disease (PWPD) and their caregivers.

LOUD Crowd (Live)
LOUD Crowd is a voice exercise class specifically designed for people with Parksinon’s Disease to improve their voicing. We offer this class both Live and via zoom. In addition to providing maintenance for skills learned in our Speak Out! therapy program, it also provides a source of support, camaraderie, and improves quality of life.

PWR! Moves® (Virtual)

This class targets PD symptoms of slow/small movements. Participants will learn how to use high effort, muscle activation for bigger movements, better posture, balance and everyday FUNction such as walking, turning, and rising from a chair or floor. This class is of moderate intensity with exercises done from a standing, walking position, or a chair. Assistive devices may be used and accommodations made to maximize the benefits of exercise.

Introductory Cardio Class (Live)

This class is an introductory level Cardio Class where your instructor will assist you in determining your target heart rate, an understanding of determining your perceived level of exertion, and provide education on use of various pieces of aerobic equipment during high intensity interval training.

Cardio Class (Live)

This class uses a variety of aerobic equipment including treadmills, nu steps, ellipticals, stationary bikes, stair steppers, and rowing machines. Using heart rate monitors, this class challenges you to reach your target heart rate during high intensity interval training to follow the latest PD research and achieve the tremendous impacts of aerobic exercise. Each class will end with a series of PWR! Moves, balance, strength, and agility exercises to improve your overall energy level, posture, strength, and mobility.

Parkinson’s Boot Camp (Live, Virtual)

This is a moderate to high intensity cardio based interval class. The intervals are broken down into a timed workout /rest ratio that builds strength and endurance. The perceived exertion goal is to be in the sixty-eighty percent range. Progressive aerobic drills, agility coordination, weightlifting, band stretching, floor work and shadow boxing moves are some of the techniques incorporated.

Rock Steady Boxing®
This is a non-contact exercise program aimed at alleviating symptoms of PD. Boxing requires a combination of endurance, strength, power, speed, agility, flexibility, hand-eye coordination, and aerobic training. Forced intensity and functional moves are key components of the method. A portable boxing ring and different styles of punching bags, mitts, and gloves are some examples of the equipment used in the group classes.
